Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth
Name: Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth (CDHY)
Completion Date: TBD
Location: Vancouver, Washington
Primary Material: Custom-designed exterior metal wall panels
Architect: Mithun
Project Value: $1,982,560
Scope: Design-assist custom wall panels, mechanical unit screen walls, Art Gate feature installation
About the Project:
Selected as a design-assist trade partner, TT&L worked closely with the Mithun team to custom-design an exterior metal wall panel. The drafting session began with a review of previous custom panel projects and an explanation of TT&L's equipment parameters. The design team drafted four different panel designs, and TT&L built mockups for each. After final selection, two panel styles were derived from the mockup — along with custom corners to complete the unique design.
Keeping the project design within budget allowed the CDHY team to invest in additional "betterments" — including screen walls around the mechanical units, furnished and installed by TT&L.
As a trade partner, TT&L also helped with the supply and install of the "Art Gate" — a centerpiece connecting the academic wing and new PE building. Though not an original part of TT&L's scope, the team came in to assist with the buy-out of the panels from North Clad and provided field measuring and installation of the art panels.
