About the Project:
Hidden Creek Community Center was completed in the summer of 2020. The project started in January with a duration of about 7 months. Scope included weather barrier, green girt thermal break furring assembly, insulation, custom-fabricated metal wall panels, and 18-gauge custom break shapes.
TT&L's preferred weather barrier system — Vaproshield Wrapshield SA — was used on the project, chosen for its adhesion in all weather conditions and its ability to be installed on days with showers. Accessory products included Vapro SS stainless-steel-clad SAM flashing, Liquid Flash vapor-permeable liquid-applied flashing, and Block flashing.
Two panels were fabricated in-house. The primary panel was custom-designed by the architect with tapered ribs and concealed fasteners on 12-inch spacing. The material was specified at 22 gauge, but TT&L was able to provide value-engineered savings by switching to 24-gauge — with no signs of oil canning due to the closeness of the bends. The second panel was a more traditional 1-inch reveal panel.
The project also utilized 18-gauge custom-color material to match the wall panels for the oversized break shape. Flashings were installed without visible fasteners using a continuous cleat system. These large break shapes created long fluid lines without oil canning — a strong VE option, since ACM panels can be tough to fabricate in long lengths (16-foot maximum), while 18-gauge material can extend to 26'4".
